MBChB, MD, FRCOG
I am a Consultant Gynaecologist and Sub-Specialist in Reproductive Medicine at Priory Hospital Birmingham and have been a Consultant Gynaecologist at Birmingham Women’s Hospital (BWH) since 2013. I am Clinical Lead at Birmingham Women’s Fertility Centre (BWFC) and also lead the menopause and reproductive endocrinology services.
I graduated from Edinburgh University Medical School in 1996 and completed an MD in basic sciences related to Reproductive Medicine in Edinburgh in 2003. I gained my MRCOG in 2005 and completed my core specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology in Edinburgh before moving to Birmingham in 2007 to complete my training. I completed sub-specialty training in Reproductive Medicine in Birmingham in 2012, started my consultant role in 2013 and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2019.
I lead the Menopause service at BWH which is the largest NHS clinic in the West Midlands and deals with complex referrals alongside offering an implant service. As a member of the Medical Advisory Council of the British Menopause Society (BMS) I have detailed knowledge of managing difficult medical conditions in relation to the menopause.
I also lead the Reproductive Endocrine service at BWH and am experienced in all areas of Reproductive Medicine leading to fertility issues and polycystic ovarian syndrome.
I am an honorary clinical lecturer at the University of Birmingham, have published widely and continue my academic work alongside my teaching and service development commitments.
I hold an Advanced Certificate in Menopause Care and am a certified BMS Menopause trainer. I also teach regularly on BMS practical skills courses for the Menopause Certificate. I am a member of the British Fertility Society and ESHRE. My other roles include chair of the West Midlands Menopause Society, member of the ESHRE fellowship exam steering committee (EFRM) and a board member of the Centre for Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism (CEDAM) which is an innovation to create a network for research and training in endocrinology in Birmingham.
I am married with 3 children and in my spare time enjoy a bit of cycling and reading the occasional book to keep up with my book club.
